A Filipino can never deny his past, that our ancestors lived in bamboo huts when the Europeans displayed architectural and artistic genius in their urban cities and palaces. But, going through our own history shows our own brilliance.

Rizal said, "Genius has no country. It blossoms everywhere. Genius is like the light, the air. It is the heritage of all."

Denying this truth at this age, by patronizing foreign work while disregarding and maligning our own, smacks of ignorance and lack of proper education. Truly, money can't buy class nor breeding. Nor clothes and cars can cover up for what's lacking in your brain.vthefantastichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00531690134261484071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-491489102083740378.post-31560470439370588252012-01-28T21:59:08.727-08:002012-01-28T21:59:08.727-08:00Obviously the one who said, "The best! Sometimes I dont even understand their Tagalog," is one GREAT PRETENDER. Mamma Mia (I saw it last night) is fun theater. It doesn't purport to be high drama, Sondheim-esque, or whatever. When I first saw it in London back in 1997, I was told to just go in and enjoy myself, and I did, singing and dancing to that same music I grew up on. That's all it aims to be. Fun. Nothing else.

So for anyone to view it as anything above and beyond it needs to be exposed to real art. I'm afraid that true appreciation for it is lacking on our shores.

(My husband saw it, and wasn't particularly impressed... he liked Cats better.)MsLeaSalongahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12751458896324484839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-491489102083740378.post-79154283807724598402012-01-27T06:17:01.522-08:002012-01-27T06:17:01.522-08:00i bet, ang favorite musical niya ay Glee.
